Things I Want to Teach Someday

Page history last edited by david 1 yr ago

The Prologue:  Genesis 1-11

1) An ideal creation (Gen.1-2)

2) A poor choice with severe consequences (Gen. 3)

3) A disrupted family tree (Gen. 4)

4) A fresh start (The account of Noah)

5) A rebellious unity (The account of Babel)

6) A redemptive journey (Abraham - Israel - Jesus)

People of the Book

1) God is the source of the Bible

    - One Author, One Book, One Message

    - Principle of Unity

    - Principle of NonContradiction

2) Men were the conduit of the Bible

    - Discover what the authors were attempting to express

    - Consider all biblical statements in CONTEXT

3) Reconciliation is the purpose of the Bible

4) The Holy Spirit is the interpreter of the Bible

God, Sin, and Evil

1) Two starting points

    - God exists

    - Evil exists

2) Cause, Control, and Responsibility

    - Cause doesn't always equal responsibility (When my son is 20, I will not be held responsible if he robs a bank, even though I may at several levels have a role in the cause of his actions)

    - Complete Control doesn't insinuate Complete Causality

    - Control doesn't mean Responsibility (an umpire controls a baseball game, he is not responsible for the outcome)

3) God as Cause

4) God in Control

5) God's Responsibility

Ten Eternal Questions

1) What is your concept of God?

2) Do you think this life is all there is, or do you believe in an afterlife?

3) Do you accept the concept of karma, in the sense of cause and effect?

4) What is your moral code, in relation to right and wrong?

5) Do you believe you have a destiny, and do you see yourself as here to fulfill it?

6) What has life taught you so far?

7) What advice or words of wisdom would you like to pass on to those close to you?

8) Do you believe our survival on planet Earth is being threatened?

9) Who do you most admire in this world, historical or living?

10) How do you find peace within yourself?
